We help entrepreneurial scientists to identify commercial opportunities, build teams and start their own companies.

OUR WORK

Building and investing in industry-shifting ventures at the convergence of the sciences.

We look for the very best scientific and industry STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) researchers who want to become entrepreneurs and build solutions that matter.
Our focus is not on commercialising existing IP or technology. We focus on mapping out opportunities, bringing together multi-disciplinary teams and rapidly engineering solutions to take advantage of untapped global challenges.
We work in tight coalitions with industry, academia and investors to help our teams test prototypes and raise funding. We significantly reduce the technical and market risks associated with launching new ventures.

why DSV

Find the right opportunity and develop scalable actionable vision.

We work closely with sector-specific experts from industry and academia to map out critical opportunity areas that have the potential for enormous impact but desperately need a new approach.

Meet co-founders with complementary specialist expertise.

We attract scientists and engineers (80% with a PhD or a Post-doc) from Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial, UCL, but also from further afield: including Stanford and Yale, as well as  from multinationals such as GSK, Amazon, GE, Merck, Rolls Royce and Goldman Sachs all driven by the huge potential of science startups.

Receive up to £150k in expert-lead seed and pre-seed funding.

We invest in both individuals that join us pre-team, pre-idea (and develop their venture in-house) and pre-existing ventures looking for pre-seed or seed funding.

Individuals pre-team, pre-idea

We fund individuals with an initial stipend of £1,250 per month for 1-3 months whilst exploring ideas and building the team. Once an exciting and feasible opportunity has been identified, we invest £100k which is split as £50k for 10% and an additional £50k convertible if needed.

Early-stage teams / projects

We can invest up to £150k alongside a wider round of complimentary investors. We’re most excited by momentum and will want to work with existing teams for a couple of months to see how fast they move and whether we can help to accelerate their vision. Please send the pitch deck to hello@dsv.io.

Access state of the art facilities.

Within 9 months of starting, we’ve helped our teams to secure secured labs in Cambridge, Imperial, Paris and Glasgow – shooting things with guns and growing cell cultures. We work particularly closely with brilliant people behind Makerversity and UnitDX.
